Ely's Community Christmas Dinner

This year's Community Christmas Dinner was a great success, despite a very windy Christmas morning. just about every “joker” in town attended the annual event, held each year by the White Pine Ministerial Association. Volunteers gave of their time serving the public and keeping the hot buffet line packed with traditional Christmas dinner favorites.

Great Basin College administrative assistant Kandy Scheel (left) welcomes Lacy Poulsen and Shauna Pintar to the Ely Campus as they register for spring classes. Poulsen is a new student in early childhood education and Pintar is a returning high school senior registering for Math 120 for dual credit at White Pine High School. Spring semester begins Jan. 24 but financial aid counselors will be in Ely on Jan. 6-7. An orientation to the social work program is open to the public and will be held Jan. 15. A free math refresher workshop on Jan. 5-15 offers students an opportunity to brush up on math skills prior to placement in math classes. All GBC campuses are observing a winter closure Dec. 26-Jan. 2.
